Expenses
May 19th
What has happened has brought Parliament into disrepute and is a disgrace. I am particularly disappointed that Conservative Members have been implicated as much as Labour ad LibDems. It is clearly not enough to blame the system.
Representing Warrington in Parliament is a priveledge not a gravy train. I make the following commitments:
-I will not claim any expenses apart from travel which will be published weekly on this web site.
-I will not employ any members of my family.
-I will have the lowest expenses of any MP in Cheshire.........if I don't I will not stand again.
It really is that simple.
Euro Campaign is Kicked Off in Stockton Heath
May 12th

Although it is probably still another year until the general election and we get the chance of a new Government there is an important date on June 4th. The chance to vote for your European Member of Parliament (MEP).....and send a message to Gordon Brown, our unelected Prime Minister, that enough is enough. The country needs and deserves a general election now.
Both Labour and the LibDems fought the last general election on the manifesto commitment that they would offer a referendum on the European Constitution. After the election both "changed their mind" and voted the new Constitution through. Remember that because Ireland voted "no" to the European Constitution it is not yet ratified. A resounding vote for the Conservatives at this election could ensure it never will be.
Whether we like it or not Brussels is not irrelevant. When crime, unemployment and immigration are discussed there we need strong people who will stick up for Britain. The more Conservative MEP's we elect the stronger will be the force for change.
We have 8 candidates at this election and they are appointed based on the percentage of votes obtained on June 4th. Sir Robert Atkins and Saj Karim are already known to you as existing MEP's. Saj was until recently a LibDem MEP for Warrington. We warmly welcome him along with the other ex-LibDems who have recently joined the Conservative Party.
Over the next few weeks I'll be campaigning hard on door steps of Warrington. I hope to see many of you whilst I am out and about.
Warrington to Pilot Controversial Children's Database
May 7thIt has now been revealed that Warrington has been selected as one of the pilot authrioties for the Governments controversial new scheme to build a database eventually containing details of all 18million children in the UK. The ContactPoint Database is a £230million project which is intended to make it easier for social workers and police to co-ordinate actions for at risk and vulnerable children.
The Conservative Party opposes the scheme as the data will be accessible by over 330,000 users nationwide and there are inadequate security gurantees. The Tories would propose instead the promotion of data sharing between key local professionals and a small targeted databases so that children moving across local authority boundaries – if they cause concern – could be traced to the relevant professional at their previous address.
David Mowat says "We would free up professionals to concentrate on genuinely vulnerable children- those on the child protection register, children in care, children from households suffering domestic violence. "I am disappointed that Warrington has been selected as a pilot for this flawed scheme. We will cancel it after the election."
