Lymm Sorting Office
Adding insult to injury.
June 15th
Only a few weeks after ignoring the wishes of local residents and pushing ahead with the closure of the post office at Booths Hill it has now come to light that the Royal Mail plan to close the Lymm sorting office. Approximately 18 postman will be transfered to Altrincham.
Councillor Sheila Woodyatt joined David Mowat in condemning the plans. "This is very likely to mean a further decline in the level of service that we receive in Lymm...........it just seems to be adding insult to injury to withdraw these service after pushing through the closure of Booths's Hill............."
Cartridge Field
Development Planned on Land Between Chester Road and Ackers Road

Last year the Council produced a detailed analysis covering the degree of greenfield amenity enjoyed by every Borough in the town. One of the lowest was Stockton Heath. This is why it is astonishing that it has now been announced that the Council propose to build a mini housing estate on one of the last pieces of green left in the area. A local campaign is being mobilised to stop the scheme and David Mowat recently visited the site where he was shown around by local campaigner Phil McConnel . He was able to see local youths, not vandalising, not drinking but just building and developing their own mountain biking course. See pictures.
Mowat says "
Of course Stockton Heath, like so many other areas needs a supply of affordable housing, and of course it is not right that so many young people from the Borough
cannot afford to live in the village.......but about a mile away there are many acres of land which have been designated for development........surely that is where the building should be done...........youths in the area have spent many man months of work building their bicycle tracks.......they should not be bulldozed........"
