Brown Goes for Broke
Nov 26th
David Mowat addresses local conservatives on the economy.

After a decade of high spending brown takes borrowing to over £20,000 for every UK citizen. But the real lie is that the increase in spending is intended to be a stimulus to the economy to help mitigate the recession. The fact is that of the £110billion Brown has to borrow, the biggest slice will go to just maintaining public spending.....no more than £15m is being used for his so called fiscal stimulus. Brown has used the credit crunch as a smoke screen......
From next year onwards we will spend, as a country, more on paying back interest than on Defence. This is not right. We are the only country in Western Europe that has "gone for broke". But then we are the only country in Western Europe with an election coming up.

David Mowat says "
I have a family of 4 all of whom will be making their way in the world over the next few yeras.....it is not right that Brown is lumbering each of them with a hige debt time bomb just because he'll do anything....to win the next election..........."See David Cameron on video give his thoughts on Brown's latest effort.

Conservative online tool helps local small businesses get Rate ReliefShadow Minister for Small Business Urges Local Shops to Seek Relief Mark Prisk MP, Shadow Minister for Small Business today announced that small shop owners like David Wilson in Cheshire could save up to £1,100 if they use the online tool on the Conservative party website to help small businesses quickly apply for Small Business Rate Relief.
Rising business rates combined with the credit crunch are straining local shops. Conservatives are committed to helping small businesses maintain and grow their businesses as the country faces recession. It is a clear recognition that small businesses are the lifeblood of the country’s economy and at the heart of each community. Many shops are eligible for rate relief but do not know about it or find it too complicated to apply.
Commenting, Mr Prisk said:
“Small shops could be up to £1,100 better off, but the Government has failed to let them know if they qualify and, not surprisingly, tied up the rate relief program with lots of red tape. Our online tool helps small shop owners cut through the tape and get relief.
David Mowat added “Local business owners like David Wilson, who has benefitted from our online tool to get relief, can seek and get rate relief as well. We’ve launched this effort to build awareness and actually get people to apply for relief as one part of our comprehensive plan to ensure small businesses weather this economic storm.”

“Small businesses need all the help they can get at the moment and it
is important that the local authorities do all that they can to make
small firms aware of the small business rate relief scheme. It is also
vital that government makes this scheme automatic as it is in both
Wales and Scotland.”
