Conservative vote increased by 33% in Warrington South compared with the same elections last year. This is considerably better than the 10% increase which we experienced across the country as a whole. Particular highlights were gaining two Councillors. Paul Kennedy in Hatton,Stretton and Walton which was won with a 21% swing from the LibDems. Additionally, Paul Campbell beat Labour in Penketh and Cuerdley. Overall there is a significant swing from both Labour and the LibDems to the Conservative Party. The photo shows the deputy leader of the Council, Keith Bland, celebrating the results.
Based on the Electoral Calculus web site the May 1st results, if repeated in a General Election, would result in the Conservatives beating Labour into second place by over 6000 votes.
Overall the Council remains NOC with the Conservatives holding 3 of the major portfolios.
