William Hague Visits Stockton Heath
April 22nd
William Hague, Shadow Foreign Secretary and Chairman of the Northern Board, spent the day in Warrington as part of the association efforts to win vital Council seats in the upcoming local elections. As well as walking around the village and attending meetings William also led a general election strategy meeting with a number of senior local Conservatives. He commented "that South Warrington was fundamental to the party gaining power at the next general election........at every election since the war Warrington South has gone the same way as the Government.........the seat is one of 80 key labour/conservative marginals.........."
David inviting William to return regurlarly to the constituency during the next election campaign. And presented him with over 5000 signatures that were received as part of his campaign to force the Government to honour it's promise on the EU referendum.
Mowat Calls for U Turn on 10p Tax Policy
April 8th
Figures obtained by local Conservatives show that over 9000 people living in Warrington will be worse off as a result of Labour's plan to abolish the 10p tax band. Mowat called the tax rise callous. It was only introduced so that Gordon Brown could look good at his last budget by saying that he has reduced the basic rate to 20%. Well now we know who is paying the price for him to look so good.......anybody earning less than £16,000 pa. The Government should find a way of reversing this change and do it quickly. Gordon Brown pretending that nothing is wrong is not good enough.
Update
Brown's partial fix which was rushed through in time to save the Crewe by-election result still leaves hundreds of thousands of pensioners worse off.........and the whole thing has increased borrowing by £3bn. That is part of the reason why interest rates cannot be cut.
Conservatives Launch Petition to Stop Further Police Cuts
April 2nd
During the last 18 months over 100 permanent police positions across Cheshire have been cut. Now the Government seems to be planning more. This at a time when it is still very tough to walk through parts of Warrington at night and where the incidence of knife related crime continues to rise. David Mowat says it is bad enough that the Government make officers spend their time filling in forms instead of being out on the beat. Now they seem determind to cut numbers. As usual it will be front line officers who bear the brunt of this.
