Visit to Daresbury Science Park

March 28th

David today visited the science park located just outside the constituency in Daresbury and was able to see at first hand the plans for expansion which are being formed. Currently the facility employs around 600 scientists many of whom live within the constituency. In discussion with Deputy Chief Executive Professor Colin Whitehouse David made the point that these are just the sort of well paid highly skilled jobs that  Warrington needs to generate over the next 10 years.

David says In my view Warrington should aim to become a science and innovation centre for the North West of England and beyond. There is a need for thousands more jobs to support the nuclear design and applied science industries and the Council should embrace this as a real priority.........doing nothing could result in  more jobs in the South East and less in Warrington........

Stockton Heath Toilets

March 18th

It is now over two years since the Council took the decision to close the publics loos in Stockton Heath which is easily the major shopping centre for the South part of the town. David Mowat says Although this may not be the biggest issue in politics locally it is a major concern for many people who wish to shop in Stockton Heath. In particular, older people can be discouraged from shopping altogether.

Conservatives have so far collected over 400 signatures to try to apply pressure to the Council. We were recently joined by Warrington Member of the European Parliament, Den Dover, who was born and bred in Stockton Heath. If you would like to support this campaign. Sign Our Petition.
